Our Mission

Our Mission ✦

At Abide Psychiatry, our mission is to provide compassionate, evidence-based mental health care that treats the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. We believe that true mental wellness goes beyond symptom management; it is about helping you find a place of rest, resilience, and restoration. Because we believe mental health starts with a good night's sleep, we prioritize the biological foundation of rest as the first step toward emotional healing.

We specialize in integrating high-quality medical treatment (Medication Management) with proven therapeutic techniques (CBT-I) to help you navigate anxiety, depression, and burnout. Whether you are looking for a psychiatrist who respects your faith or simply need a skilled physician to help you get your life back on track, you are welcome here.

Portrait of Dr. Pichit Thanupakorn, a Christian telehealth psychiatrist and sleep medicine specialist serving North Carolina.

Hey, it’s Dr. T!

I’m Dr. Pichit Thanupakorn—though my patients know me as "Dr. T." I am a board-eligible psychiatrist based in the Research Triangle, providing 100% telehealth care to patients across all of North Carolina. I am deeply dedicated to a holistic and person-centered approach to mental health.

I earned my medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and completed my psychiatry residency at Duke University Medical Center, where I served as Chief Resident in Emergency Psychiatry.

Throughout my clinical experience—spanning emergency, inpatient, and outpatient care—I noticed a consistent pattern: behind almost every severe case of anxiety, depression, or burnout was a fractured foundation of sleep. I built Abide Psychiatry to bridge the gap between traditional mental health care and specialized medical sleep management—because healing the mind starts with healing the night.

I invite you to learn more about my clinical background, my personal faith, and the mission behind Abide Psychiatry.

Services

Sleep Psychiatry & Insomnia Care (CBT-I & CPAP)

We don't just prescribe sleep aids; we treat the root cause of wakefulness. We offer the gold-standard Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) to retrain your brain to sleep naturally. For those with Sleep Apnea, we provide full-spectrum clinical CPAP management—from ordering diagnostic Home Sleep Apnea Tests (HSAT) and adjusting machine settings, to helping you overcome mask anxiety and improve compliance.

Comprehensive Medication Management

We provide full-spectrum psychiatric care for Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar II, and Adult ADHD. We specialize in treating "Comorbid Insomnia"—where mood disorders and sleep issues feed into a vicious cycle. Our evidence-based medication management is thoughtful and conservative, ensuring that any medications prescribed support both your emotional well-being and your long-term sleep architecture.

Integrated Psychotherapy

Therapy that honors your values. Whether you are seeking insight through clinical modalities like psychodynamic therapy, ACT, and CBT, or you desire to integrate Christian faith and prayer into your sessions, you set the pace. We work together to build resilience, navigate burnout, and develop practical coping strategies for lasting growth.

    • Adult ADHD: Comprehensive management prioritizing non-stimulant treatments and behavioral strategies. (Note: We require recent, external neuropsychological testing for all ADHD diagnoses and stimulant prescribing).
